VIDEO: MARK LUIGGI HALL OF FAME INDUCTION CEREMONY
Mark Luiggi was a standout track performer while a student-athlete at Bridgewater College.
Luiggi was a four-time individual conference champion, winning two titles in the outdoor 400 meters along with championships in the indoor and outdoor 800 meter events. He was also a member of one ODAC championship relay team.
Three decades later, his time of 48.4 seconds in the 400 meters still tops the Eagles record book. Luiggi also graduated with Bridgewater’s best time in the 800 meters, - a mark that stood for 23 years.
In 1985, Luiggi qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 400 meters and finished 10th overall.
Since graduation, Luiggi has had a fulfilling career in banking, computer IT support and law enforcement training.
Luiggi has been active supporter of youth sports and recreation, serving as a coach in several different sports. He has also been a volunteer with Habitat For Humanity for more than 10 years and in 2010 he received the Prince William Volunteer Appreciation Award for his work with that organization.
In recognition of his outstanding track accomplishments while a student-athlete, Mark Luiggi is deserving of induction into the Bridgewater College Athletic Hall of Fame.
