VIDEO: VINCENT 'BUDDY' COMER HALL OF FAME INDUCTION CEREMONY
Buddy Comer played baseball for two years with the Bridgewater College Eagles and batted over .300 in each season. During his second year with the Eagles, he was named to the All-Mason Dixon Conference team.
Buddy left Bridgewater College at the age of 19 after signing a professional baseball contract with the Washington Senators. He played two years of pro ball, then returned to Bridgewater College and assisted Coach Dan Geiser with the baseball program for two years. In 1972, Buddy was Bridgewater's head baseball coach.
Over the years, Buddy has left his mark on high school athletics in the State of Virginia, both as a coach and as an official. As a coach, Buddy has been a head coach in five different sports - baseball, basketball, football, cross country and track. His teams have won district, regional and state titles. His 1971 Luray High School basketball team and 2001 Page County High School track team were undefeated and won state titles. Buddy has also served as an administrator at both Spotswood High School and Page County High School.
Buddy is also well-known as an official in high school and college sports. During his career he has officiated more than 35 semifinal and championship games at the state level in baseball, basketball and softball. He has also officiated games at the college level in both men's and women's basketball and baseball.
In 2001, Buddy was honored for his contributions to high school athletics as both a coach and official with induction into the Virginia High School League Hall of Fame.
In recognition of his outstanding baseball career at Bridgewater College and for his dedication to high school athletics as a coach, administrator and official, Buddy Comer is an obvious choice for induction into the Bridgewater College Athletic Hall of Fame.
