One of the most prolific scorers in college basketball during his playing days at Bridgewater, Dr. James A. "Jim" Reedy impacted the lives of many as an athlete, coach, professor, and college administrator.

Reedy entered Bridgewater in 1957 and immediately made his mark on the basketball court. He led the Eagles with a 16.3 points-per-game average that year and ranked seventh in scoring among state College division players. The following season, Reedy averaged 21.3 points a game, third-best in the College division ranks, and led Bridgewater to a 17-4 record in 1959-60 with a superlative junior campaign. Reedy averaged 28.7 points per game to lead the state College division scoring race and earned the Virginia Sportswriters and Sportscasters College Division Player of the Year award and honorable mention Little All-American honors. In 1960-61, Reedy again paced the Eagles with a 27.9 points-per-game average and finished second in the College division scoring race. He concluded his career with 2,000 points, second on the Bridgewater career scoring list, and at the time was only the sixth player in Virginia to reach the 2,000 point plateau. Reedy won the Mason-Dixon scoring title three consecutive seasons (1958-59, 1959-60, 1960-'61) and was a First-Team All Mason-Dixon Conference and All-Little Eight choice each of those years. He also claimed All Mason-Dixon Tournament honors in 1960 and '61, and helped the team to the Mason-Dixon finals in 1960. Reedy also spent one year as a member of the Eagles' tennis and baseball teams.

Dr. Reedy graduated from Bridgewater with a Bachelor of Arts in 1961, then gained his Master of Arts from Long Beach State in 1965 and later earned his Doctorate of Education from Vanderbilt University in 1973. Reedy returned to Bridgewater as an associate professor from 1966-78 and during that time served as the Director of Physical Education and the Director of Athletics and also coached the baseball team from 1967-71 and '74-'78. Reedy moved on to the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1978, where he served as the Department Head and Professor of the Health and Performance Sciences from 1990-96.

Dr. Jim Reedy's athletic achievements as a Bridgewater competitor stand alone and those accomplishments, along with his work in the field of Health and Physical Education, make him an obvious choice for the Bridgewater College Athletic Hall of Fame.
