VIDEO: DONNA NICHOLS HALL OF FAME INDUCTION CEREMONY
Donna E. Nichols was a two-sport standout in field hockey and lacrosse while at Bridgewater College.
Donna played in the field hockey Southeastern Tournament in 1974 and she was a co-captain on the field hockey team from 1975-77. Donna played goalkeeper and helped lead the Eagles to an 8-3-2 record during her junior year. She posted four shutouts as the Eagles advanced to regional play.
Donna excelled on the lacrosse field where she is recognized as one of Bridgewater's all-time greats. She was chosen to compete in the national lacrosse tournament in each of her four years at Bridgewater and was also named All-South District in each of her four seasons. In 1977, she was selected as an alternate on the All-College lacrosse team that was selected to play in England.
Donna also was involved in other college activities at Bridgewater. She was a member of the Women's Athletic Association for four years and served as the association's vice-president during her senior year. In addition, she served as sports editor for both the yearbook and college newspaper.
Following graduation, she taught at Patrick Henry High School before moving into the business sector. She has worked for IBM for 22 years and is currently an executive in the company.
In recognition of her outstanding athletic career, Donna Nichols is an obvious choice for induction into the Bridgewater College Athletic Hall of Fame.
