Colleen Reid excelled both on the playing field and in the classroom during her softball career at Bridgewater College.
Reid is the only player in Bridgewater College softball program history to be selected to the All-ODAC first team four times. She was also named to the ODAC All-Academic team four times.
Reid finished her playing career with a .346 batting average. In her four seasons, she finished with 173 base hits and 130 runs, both program records when Reid graduated. Reid still ranks in the Top 10 in program history in both categories. She had her best season in 2000 when she posted a .374 batting average. Reid played in all 170 games during her four seasons.
During her playing career, the Eagles won more than 66 percent of their games as the team posted a 113-57 record. Reid was a key performer on the 2000 team that finished 32-10. The 32 victories were a program record at the time.
Following graduation, Reid stayed active playing slow-pitch softball and running marathons. Between 2008 and 2015, she ran in five marathons and raised more than $8,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Reid has worked at Twin Hickory Elementary School in Glen Allen, Va., for the past four years.
In recognition of her outstanding career while at Bridgewater College, both on the softball playing field and in the classroom, Colleen Reid is worthy of induction into the College’s Athletic Hall of Fame.
