Kameron Tucker was a dominant force at the plate during her softball career at Bridgewater College.
Tucker was a member of the BC softball program from 2000-2003 where she garnered multiple accolades throughout her tenure and helped guide the Eagles to a 110-56 stretch that included a 43-12 record in ODAC play.
During her first year with the team in 2000, Tucker served as the team’s catcher helping the Eagles to a then-program record 32 wins. As a freshman, Tucker played in 39 of the team’s 42 games and was second on the team with a .415 batting average while leading the team with 44 runs batted in – a mark that remains as the seventh-most in program history. In addition, she scored 30 runs and totaled 20 extra-base hits, including four home runs which tied for the team lead as the program fell in the conference championship game.
Her sophomore campaign showed a .376 batting average with 27 RBI that ranked second on the team and a team-high four home runs as the Eagles once again crossed the 25-win plateau finishing the 2001 season at 29-12.
Tucker belted a then-team record 10 home runs as a junior and batted at a .421 clip with 39 RBI on her way to a First Team All-ODAC selection as a junior. The catcher earned All-Atlantic Region first-team laurels and a spot on the VaSID All-State first team before becoming the program’s first-ever All-American in her senior campaign. Tucker’s final season also saw first-team accolades at the conference, region and state levels after batting an impressive .441 with eight home runs and 41 RBI.
She graduated as the career leader in several categories with a .685 slugging percentage, 26 home runs, 153 RBI and 328 total bases. Her total base record is now second in team history but still leads in the other three categories after 20 years. Tucker’s 153 career RBI total ranks ninth in the ODAC record book.
After graduating with a double major in Health & Exercise Science and Allied Health Science, Tucker began her professional career at Massanutten Resort before departing for the tidewater. She returned to her roots and served as an assistant coach under Bridgewater Athletic Hall of Famer Donnie Fulk until his retirement. Following her stint as an assistant at BC, Tucker returned to Massanutten and currently serves as the Mountain Sports Director at the resort.
In recognition of her outstanding performances as a student-athlete, Kameron Tucker is worthy of induction into the Bridgewater College Athletic Hall of Fame.
