Athletic Team Mentor Program

Mission: Build a positive and personal connection with Athletic Team

Goals:
• Strengthen the communication between a student athletes and faculty
• Inform student athletes of resources and opportunities on campus
• Mentor and support student athletes

Athletic Team Mentor (ATM) Role:
Each ATM agrees to serve as a mentor for a minimum of one year. ATMs believe athletics have an integral and valuable role in the mission at Bridgewater College. ATMs are dedicated to the idea of building a positive connection between academics and athletics on campus. It is not necessary for the ATM to be an expert in the sport, but some understanding can be helpful. The role of each ATM will vary depending on the relationship style of each athletic team, coach, and mentor. ATMs will have their own style and way of engaging. The amount of time spent with the athletic team can vary from mentor to mentor.

Athletic Team Mentor Selection Process:
Faculty Athletic Representatives, Athletic Director, Senior Women’s Administrator, Head Coaches and Student Athletes generate a list of potential athletic team mentors. Faculty Athletic Representative works collaboratively with Head Coaches and consults with faculty mentor to complete mentor pairings. Faculty Athletic Representatives serves as the primary communicator to provide information, guidance, and support to Athletic Team Mentors.
