Jennifer Young – 1998

Jennifer Young finished her basketball career as one of the top scorers and shooters in Bridgewater women’s basketball history.

Young was a three-time All-ODAC performer, earning second-team honors as a sophomore and junior before moving up the first team as a senior. She was also a first team All-State selection and an honorable mention All-American pick following her 1997-98 season.

Young helped lead the Eagles to their first NCAA tournament appearance in 1996-97 and a year later she helped the Eagles reach the NCAA tournament Round of 16.

Young ranks third all-time in career points at Bridgewater with 1,572 and averaged 14.7 points per game during her four seasons. Young set the record for 3-pointers made in a season with 176 and still ranks No. 2 in that category. She also holds the career record for 3-point shooting percentage with a 40.8 percent mark. During her career, Young set Bridgewater season records for points with 495 and 3-point shooting accuracy at 47.2 percent.

Following graduation Young embarked on a career in education and has been a teacher and coach. During her 11 seasons as a coach she led her girls’ basketball team to a pair of state final four appearances while her tennis team won back-to-back conference tennis titles.

In recognition of her outstanding basketball career and her dedication as a high school teacher and coach, Bridgewater College is proud to induct Jennifer Young into its Athletic Hall of Fame.
