Diana Beard enjoyed an outstanding basketball career during her four years at Bridgewater College.

Beard was a three-time all-conference pick, earning second-team honors in 1985, 1986 and 1987.

An excellent shooter, Beard shot 72 percent from the foul line and 44 percent from the floor during her career. She averaged 12.4 points per game during her four seasons and finished her career with 1,082 points – one of 18 players in Bridgewater women’s basketball history to surpass the 1,000-point plateau. She also ranks No. 7 all-time at Bridgewater in assists with 381 and her 4.4 assists per game ranks No. 3 all-time.

During her senior season, Beard helped lead the Eagles to the ODAC Championship game where they lost a heartbreaking 74-72 contest to Roanoke College.

Following graduation, Beard served as a youth coach in several different spots while also remaining active within her church.

In the early 1990s, she pursued and received accreditation as an air traffic controller and has been working in that position for the past decade.

In recognition of her stellar playing career on the basketball court, Diana Beard is deserving of induction into the Bridgewater College Athletic Hall of Fame.
