VIDEO: BARRY DAVIS' HALL OF FAME INDUCTION
Barry Davis was a stellar performer on the baseball diamond during his playing days in the Bridgewater College program.
After earning All-ODAC second-team recognition as a sophomore, Davis followed with a stellar junior season when he was the team’s Most Valuable Player and a first-team All-ODAC and All-State selection. As a senior, he received the team’s 100 percent award. Davis played on two ODAC Championship squads and the Eagles posted a 73-32-2 record while he was in the program. Davis graduated as the Eagles’ all-time hits leader with 122. Davis was also a member of the national leadership society Omicron Delta Kappa during his senior year.
Following graduation, Davis embarked on his collegiate coaching career with stops as an assistant baseball coach at Frostburg State and George Mason.
He landed his first head coaching job at Gloucester County Junior College in New Jersey where he led the team to eight regional titles and four national championships during his 11 years with the program. Davis was named National Coach of the Year four times.
He then took the head coaching job at Georgia Southwestern State University where the winning continued. In four years, his teams posted a 137-87 record and his 2002 squad was ranked No. 5 in final NAIA poll of the season.
Davis returned to New Jersey to take the head coaching job at Division I Rider University in 2004, a position he still holds. He has guided the program to two Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference titles, one regular season title and two trips to NCAA postseason play. Davis was named the MAAC Coach of the Year in 2006 and 2013.
Davis was inducted into the Gloucester County College Sports Hall of Fame in 2010 and the Gloucester County Sports Hall of Fame in 2012.
In recognition of his strong playing career with the Eagles baseball program and his superb college coaching career, Barry Davis is worthy of induction into the Bridgewater College Athletic Hall of Fame.
