Virginia "Ginny" Snuggs earned 12 athletic letters at Bridgewater College and was a key performer in three sports during her four years at Bridgewater.

On the basketball court, Ginny was the team's leading scorer and rebounder during the 1970-71 season. In 1972, Bridgewater reached postseason play at the national level for the first time, reaching the Region II semifinals against Tennessee-Martin in the AIAW Division III Tournament. Ginny was named to the all-tournament team in the regionals. The basketball team finished second in the Virginia Federation of Intercollegiate Sports for Women in both 1971 and 1972. In lacrosse, Ginny was named to the All-State team all four years. In 1969, she was named to the Southern District Lacrosse Team and competed in the national tournament. Her exploits continued in field hockey where she was selected to the Blue Ridge and Southeast teams for four straight seasons. She was also chosen to play in the national tournament following her junior season.

Following graduation, Ginny continued her involvement in athletics as a teacher, coach and participant. For the past 23 years she has been a department head and athletic director in the Spotsylvania County School System. From 1976-96 she played slow-pitch softball, making 12 trips to the National and World tournaments.

As one of the most notable athletes to play at Bridgewater College and for her work as a teacher and coach of young people, Ginny Snuggs is a superb selection for the Athletic Hall of Fame.
