VIDEO: MARION 'BO' TRUMBO'S HALL OF FAME INDUCTION

Marion “Bo” Trumbo was a standout pitcher for the Bridgewater College baseball program and several of his pitching records have stood the test of time for nearly four decades.

Trumbo’s career 1.62 earned run average is still the best in program history and he still owns the single-season record with a 1.02 ERA. The lefty is also still tied for the most complete games in program history with 15. Trumbo set the career strikeout record with 140, a mark he held for 25 years.

Following graduation, Trumbo continued his playing career in the Valley Baseball League where he was a four-time all-star performer.

Trumbo embarked on a career in education as a teacher and coach. He has taught in several school systems in Virginia and in 2012 received the John Marshall Teacher of the Year Award. He was an assistant coach on the 1976 Stuarts Draft High School baseball team that captured the Group A State Championship.

He continued to follow his passion for the game of baseball as a professional scout for several different organizations. Trumbo signed 24 players, including three Major Leaguers.

Trumbo also continued to serve Bridgewater College as an Alumni Association Board member from 1989-2009. He was president of the Bridgewater College Alumni Association in 1989. He is currently an ex-Officio member of the College’s Board of Trustees representing the Alumni Association.

In recognition of his outstanding player career while a student and his continued commitment to the College, Marion “Bo” Trumbo is worthy of induction into the Bridgewater College Athletic Hall of Fame.
