James Wampler was a two-sport standout while at Bridgewater College, playing basketball and running track in each of his four years.

Wampler excelled on the basketball court, scoring 1.253 points and grabbing 601 rebounds. At the time of his graduation, Wampler ranked No. 8 in program history on the all-time scoring list and No. 2 on the all-time rebounding list. He currently ranks No. 20 in scoring and No. 10 in rebounding.

Wampler was also a strong performer on the track where he set a program record in the 440-yard intermediate hurdles. Wampler won the 440 hurdles as a freshman at the Mason-Dixon Conference Championship Meet. He improved his time in the event in each of the next three seasons, but was unable to repeat as champion in the event.

Wampler was a team leader in each sport, serving as a team captain in both basketball and track during his senior year.

Following his graduation from Bridgewater, Wampler received his degree in physical therapy from Virginia Commonwealth University / Medical College of Virginia. He worked as a physical therapist at Rockingham Memorial Hospital before founding Harrisonburg PT Services. He worked again with Rockingham Memorial Hospital, Shenandoah Memorial Hospital and Hess Orthopedics before founding Wampler and Associates Rehabilitation in 2004.

In recognition of his stellar athletic career, James Wampler is worthy of induction into the Bridgewater College Athletic Hall of Fame.
