NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced Wednesday All-Region honors with three Bridgewater College men's athletes named to the accolade after a strong outdoor season.
The top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region honors, in addition to each of the members of a top-3 ranked relay team.
Joe Amlacher heated up in the 110-meter hurdles as the hurdler ran a first-place finish at ODACs along with a personal best time of 14.74 seconds. Amlacher ended the season with the second fastest time in the south region.
In the field, Jesus Flores rose to the occasion this season in the shot put throwing the fourth-best mark in the region with 15.37m. Mike Smith rounded out the regional award recipients garnering All-Region recognition in both the hammer throw and discus. Smith finished the season with the best mark in the region in hammer at 59.76m. The thrower also had the third-best mark in the discus (48.19m). Smith is qualified for nationals.
