Men's Track & Field Holds Second After Day 1 at ODAC Championships

HARRISONBURG, Va. - Bridgewater men's track & field got off to a strong start in the first day at ODAC Championships holding second place in the team score at EMU Track & Field Complex Friday.

The men finished day one with 44.5 points as they chase Lynchburg in first place with 83.5 points through six events of 20 total. 

Jesus Flores and Mike Smith commanded in the field to take first and second in the shot put as Flores put up a solid mark of 14.74m and Smith threw a mark of 14.69m. Smith continued his strong day throwing a first-place result in the hammer throw with a huge mark of 56.70m (eight meters further than second place result). Joe Flynn added to the fire and also impressed in the hammer putting up a fifth-place mark of 41.34m. 

In the long jump, Lauchnor Lamb had a big outing exploding past his personal best for a mark of 6.80m and earning bronze. 

On the track, Joe Amlacher lit a spark on the track in the 110-meter hurdles with a strong preliminary time of 14.74 to advance to the finals with the leading time. Kyle Galloway also advanced to the finals squeezing in for qualification in the 100m dash.  

Gabriel Miller rounded out the first day scoring in the 10,000m for a personal best time of 32:33.2. That time marks the third-fastest finish in the event in program history. 

The Eagles return tomorrow, April 26 at 9 a.m. for the last go-round.
