STRUGGLES IN THE FIRST: Both, Bridgewater and Ferrum struggled to score in the first quarter in the two matchups this season as neither team scored over 10 points in either meeting in the opening frame. Both defenses played a big role in this with both being top 25 in the country in the scoring defense category. The Eagles held Ferrum to under 40 points in both matchups, holding them to under 15 points in every quarter played.Â
ACTION IN THE PAINT: The Eagles have held the Panthers under 10 points in the paint in both matchups this season while losing the rebound battle in both games. Additionally, BC has scored 13 points at the free throw line in both matchups. Â
THREE POINT STRUGGLE RELIEF:Â Bridgewater improved at the three-point line scoring 44.4% after only scoring 16.7% in the first matchup. Bridgewater struggles at the three-point line have been an issue lately as they have shot 30% or below in five of their last eight contests, however in the past two games they averaged 44.7% so there is improvement.Â
LOCK-DOWN DEFENSE: The Bridgewater squad has formed a strong defensive core riding through the season, limiting opponents to a mere 47.1 points per game and holding the fifth-best scoring defense in Division III. Opponents have not shot well when taking on the Eagles defense as BC is holding foes to 31% from the field and 26.6% from three-point land.Â
CHASING THE 500 CLUB: BC junior Jay Garcia is six rebounds away from grabbing her 500th career rebound and would join Alsberry as the second current Bridgewater player in the exclusive club.Â
