Box Score VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Bridgewater College women's soccer team fell to Virginia Wesleyan 2-1 Saturday night.

How it Happened
- The start time of the match was pushed back three and a half hours due to inclement weather. Despite the late start time, both teams instantly applied offensive pressure. In the third minute, Laura Narby took the first shot attempt of the match, missing left. Virginia Wesleyan had one of their own in the following minutes, but it found the gloves of keeper Erinn Lockard.
- After missing a shot attempt 14th minute, Lyric Birkley was found by Cassandra Villafan at the 14:35 mark for the first goal of the match.
- Virginia Wesleyan fought back and scored a goal of their own at the 19:15 mark. Kaylyn Seitz sent a shot low left to put the Marlins on the board.
- The rest of the half saw no scoring, but plenty of shot opportunities from both sides. In the following minutes, Birkley had a couple of shot attempts, but to no avail. BC faced four in the final minutes of the half, but one was stopped by Lockard, and the other three were off the mark.
- Almost immediately at the start of the second half, Bridgewater's back line faced pressure, as Virginia Wesleyan ripped off three shots in the first five minutes of the half. Villafan sent a shot of her own to the Marlins' goal but met the gloves of the Virginia Wesleyan keeper.
- BC managed to fend off the Marlins' pressure and muster a couple shot attempts of their own. Laura Narby and Villafan let off a couple shots, but were unable to find nylon.
- In the 83rd minute, Virginia Wesleyan's Sheyenne Diaz found the back of the net off an assist from Seitz to break the tie. Narby took a shot attempt soon after but it was off the mark.
Match Notes
- This was BC's first loss in conference play this season.
- Bridgewater recorded 10 shots in the match and put three on target. Virginia Wesleyan doubled BC's shot numbers, recording 20 shots and putting 11 on target.
- Lockard played all 90 minutes between the pipes for the Eagles. After sitting out in the match against Hollins, the Vienna, Va. Native stopped nine shots in the match.
