Women's Track & Field Finishes Second at ODAC Indoor Championships

SALEM, Va. - Bridgewater women's track & field put up impressive performances at the Indoor ODAC Championships hosted by Roanoke at Cregger Center with gold medal winners and multiple broken records featured in the two-day meet. 

The conference championships rounded out Sunday. 

In the team score standings of 16 scored events, the women placed second place with 128 points. Washington & Lee led the way with 195.75 points and Lynchburg took third with 116 points.  

Four gold medals were presented to Bridgewater athletes on the second day of action. 

Abby Mikolay started it off and captured a gold medal in the shot put with a 12.33m mark. Then, Olivia Crigger and Olivia Bates conquered the triple jump with silver and bronze medals with recorded 10.92m and 10.90m marks respectively. 

Jade Buckles secured a gold medal finish in the 60m dash setting a new personal best time of 7.77 and Adalia Coleman took fifth with a time of 8.01. Buckles also finished with a gold medal in the 200 with a time of 25.49, setting a new personal best. Summer Wallace also joined Buckles on the podium with a bronze result with a time of 26.10. 

Taylor Myers landed a gold medal in the 800 with a time of 2:20.85. Myers also made podium for a bronze medal finish in the mile run with a time of 5:03.34. 

Bridgewater finished off the day in the 4x400 relay (Wallace, Bates, Buckles, Megan Wimmer) placing fourth with a season best time of 4:07.85. 

Up Next 

The Eagles have wrapped up the indoor season. The outdoor season will begin on March 21 at the W&L Track & Field Carnival Invitational. 

 


Notes 

Women 

Day 1 

Brianna Morgan placed third to make podium in the weight throw with a mark of 15.51m, breaking her personal best. Abby Mikolay took fifth with a mark of 14.93m. 

Summer Wallace scored with a fourth-place finish in the high jump with a mark of 1.58m. 

Jade Buckles and Wallace later medaled in the long jump as Buckles took silver with a 5.33m mark and Wallace bronze with a 5.26m mark. Olivia Crigger scored a fifth-place mark and a personal best of 5.25m.   

Taylor Myers secured a bronze finish in the 5,000m for a time of 17:53.03 (personal best). 

Crigger and Olvia Bates also qualified for the finals in the 60-meter hurdles as well as Jade Buckles nailing a first-place mark in the 60-meter dash prelims including the qualification for finals for Buckles, Adalia Coleman, and Wallace. 

Bridgewater finished the first day of competition off with a fourth-place result in the distance medley relay (Megan Wimmer, Destiny Joseph, Paige Hiserman, Regan Robinson) clocking a time of 13:14.04. 

The women sit at second place in the team score with 44 points. Washington & Lee currently lead with 51.75 points and Lynchburg follows behind Bridgewater in third with 38 points, respectively. 

Day 2 

Abby Mikolay captured a gold medal in the shot put with a 12.33m mark.  

Olivia Crigger and Olivia Bates conquered the triple jump with silver and bronze medals with recorded 10.92m and 10.90m marks respectively. 

Taylor Myers made podium for a bronze medal finish in the mile run with a time of 5:03.34.  

Olivia Bates nailed a personal best time of 9.19 in the finals of the 60-meter hurdles, placing fifth. 

Jade Buckles secured a gold medal finish in the 60m dash setting a new personal best time of 7.77 and Adalia Coleman took fifth with a time of 8.01. 

Taylor Myers landed a gold medal in the 800 with a time of 2:20.85. 

Jade Buckles finished with a gold medal in the 200 with a time of 25.49, setting a new personal best. Summer Wallace also joined Buckles on the podium with a bronze result with a time of 26.10.
