BRIDGEWATER, Va. - For the first time ever in Bridgewater swimming history, Zachary Erb has qualified for the NCAA swimming championships and will be sent off next week with the event beginning on Wednesday, March 19. The four-day national meet will conclude on Saturday, March 22 at Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C.
Erb recently came off a record-breaking season in his second year with the Eagles. At the ODAC swimming championships that were also held at Greensboro Aquatic Center, Erb took the field by storm.
The all-out, persistent swimmer competed in the 200-yard individual medley, the 100-yard breaststroke, and the 200-yard breaststroke. In all three individual events, Erb broke three school records, earned three NCAA B Cut times, and reset the ODAC championship meet as well as the conference record. At the awards ceremony, Erb was named ODAC Swimmer of the Meet and was selected to All-ODAC First Team.
Erb is seeded seventh in the 200 IM with a seeded time of 1:48.13, seeded second in the 100 Breast (53.01), and seeded sixth in the 200 Breast (1:58.27).
The 200 IM is scheduled for Wednesday, March 19 with trials beginning at 10 a.m. and finals beginning at 6 p.m. (time consistent for all days). The 100 Breast is scheduled for Friday and the 200 Breast is scheduled for Saturday.
