GREENSBORO, N.C. - Bridgewater men's swimming completed day three competition at the ODAC swimming championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center Friday.
In the prelims, Zachary Erb received a NCAA B Cut, an ODAC record, and a meet record with a time of 55.17 in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Ean Helmlinger advanced to the finals session in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:07.87.
In the 100 Back, Christian Carroll posted a strong time of 50.06 leading the way for finals.
In the finals, Erb secured a first-place finish in the 100 Breast, resetting his own ODAC record and breaking the championship meet record including resetting an invited time to the NCAA championships with a time of 53.01. That mark also qualifies Erb for All-ODAC First Team recognition. Jeffrey Prevost also closed out a sixth-place result qualifying himself for Third Team All-ODAC recognition.
Carroll took second in the finals of the 100 Back, with an exploding time of 49.03, setting a school record, meet record, ODAC record, and an NCAA B Cut. The second-place finish qualifies Carroll for All-ODAC Second Team recognition.
Bridgewater placed third in the 200 medley relay (Christian Carroll, Jeffrey Prevost, Zachary Erb, Connor Cayer) with a time of 1:30.67.
Helmlinger finalized the 400 IM with a sixth-place finish clocking 4:06.27. That mark qualifies Helmlinger for All-ODAC Third Team recognition.
The men finished the day in fourth place in the total points scored standings with 326 points, seven points behind Lynchburg. Washington & Lee continues to lead after three days of action with 581.5 points.
The Eagles continue tomorrow, Feb. 15 for the final day of competition at the ODAC swimming championships in Greensboro.
Wednesday, Feb. 12
Day 1
In the 800-yard freestyle relay with Kris Shultz, Ean Helmlinger, Alessandro Nani, and Andrea Cibrario, the Eagles finished fourth with a finals time of 7:01.48.
Thursday, Feb. 13
Day 2
In the prelims, Zachary Erb locked in a first-place finish in the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:50.02 positioning him well for the finals. That preliminary time marked a championship record.
Ean Helmlinger placed seventh in the 500-yard freestyle clocking a 4:42.76 time and advancing to the finals.
Christian Carroll and Connor Cayer both secured fast enough times to advance to the finals in the 50 Free, as Carroll had a 20.64 time and Cayer had a 20.82 time.
In the finals session, Erb powered through to reset his own ODAC championship record in the 200 IM and established an NCAA B Cut with a top-time of 1:48.13. That mark qualifies him for All-ODAC First Team recognition.
Bridgewater took silver in the 200-yard freestyle relay (Christian Carroll, Ean Helmlinger, Zachary Erb, Connor Cayer) with a finals time of 1:22.49.
Carroll nailed a bronze finish in the 50-yard freestyle finals with a time of 20.59. That time qualifies Carroll for All-ODAC Second Team recognition.
Bridgewater took bronze in the 400 medley relay (Christian Carroll, Zachary Erb, Andrea Cibrario, Connor Cayer) with a time of 3:19.35.
