How It Happened
-
The Eagles had the attacking edge from the very beginning of the game as BCE went on target first in the first three minutes of play. A quick attacking sequence from the forwards allowed any chance for a loose ball to be walloped at goal, and the Eagles did just that. As Daphne Daymude struck on target, the ball ricocheted off in the heart of the attacking circle for Rylie Flick to get a stick on it from Emily Tyler's second delivery feed. ROA would not get another chance at goal to make it 1-0 Eagles.
-
In the second quarter, the Maroons ramped up their aggressiveness with rapid movement to the center crease forcing four penalty corners. The Maroons would have nothing to show for it, as all four tries were cleared. At the half, the score remained 1-0 Eagles.
-
Then, BCE came back again firing two quick shots at goal, but ROA stopped the attack. Both teams traded penalty corners working to gain advantages, but by the end of the quarter, the Eagles protected their side of the field without much worry, keeping the score at 1-0.
-
Although the penalty corners would not be converted for the Maroons, BCE turned out a successful one, minutes into the fourth quarter. Off the corner, Rylie Flick sent a slick entry feed to the circle and Daphne Daymude got on top of it to maintain possession to then release a pounding strike hitting the backboard for the second goal on the night. The Eagles kept the Maroons quiet for the remaining minutes to secure their sixth shutout of the season.
