Box Score SWEET BRIAR, Va. -- The Bridgewater College field hockey team posted its third straight win with a 3-0 shutout victory at Sweet Briar on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Vixens got the first shot of the game after a penalty corner as Avery Jones got an attempt on net but it was kicked away by Ashley Nau less than three minutes into the game. Kylie Amberger sent an attempt wide on the other side of the field on the following possession. The Eagles maintained the pressure and eventually found the back of the cage as Daphne Daymude got an assist from Amberger to give BC a 1-0 lead at the 12:13 mark of the game. The score held until the end of the quarter.
- Most of the action in the second period came from the home side as the Vixens had a few opportunities, including a shot from Brynna Hughes that was stopped before Hughes tried to bury the rebound. Riley Chandler stepped in for a defensive save to keep the lead at 1-0. The Eagles held on to the 1-0 lead into halftime.Â
- Bridgewater earned a penalty corner five minutes into the third frame as Meredyth Rankin sent in the set play where Daymude notched her second goal of the game with an assist by Autumn Just to double the lead to 2-0 with under 10 minutes to go in the third quarter. The Eagles quickly got another opportunity on goal as Amora Marchand beat the goalie after getting an assist from Olivia DeWan to make it 3-0 with six and a half minutes left in the quarter.Â
- Sweet Briar threatened the shutout late in the fourth with back-to-back penalty corners as Jones took a swing on the cage that was stopped by Nau before making another save on a Jones shot to preserve her shutout. Time ticked away as the Eagles held on for a 3-0 shutout.

- Daymude scored two goals on a pair of shots, while Marchand scored the third one for the Eagles.
- Amberger, DeWan and Just all had assists in the win.
- Emily Tyler led the team with three shots.Â
- Chandler made the lone defensive save to preserve the shutout.
- Nau played all 60 minutes and made five saves in the win. Ashley Maggiora also played all 60 minutes in the loss and allowed three goals on the three shots she faced.Â
- Bridgewater outshot Sweet Briar, 10-6, and edged the home side 8-3 in penalty corners.Â
