How it HappenedÂ
- Randolph-Macon put a shot on the board just over a minute into the contest, but Carlee Gaboury made the save. BC countered and had a pair of corner kicks. Katherine King was able to get her boot on the second forcing Zoe Long to make the save for the Yellow Jackets. The Eagles threatened again in the 10th minute as Lyric Birkley fired a shot on target but again Long made the stop for R-MC.
- BC controlled the offensive pace as a blocked shot led to another Birkley chance that was saved by Long. Laura Narby took her crack at the offense and had her shot blocked out of play leading to a corner kick. Hannah Nugent put a shot on net from the attempt but again Long kept the game scoreless. After another Long save, this time on a shot from Narby, the Yellow Jackets went to the bench and started to get the offense going again. After a few shots that missed the target Randolph-Macon had a chance on a long throw and capitalized as Aly Spangler made it 1-0 R-MC in the 27th minute. The goal did not deter the BC attack as a few more corner kicks, and another shot from Birkley, kept things interesting. Alicia Keo got in on the action and her shot was also saved by Long. Madeline Bohan had a chance before the horn but a diving stop by Long helped the Yellow Jackets take the lead to the intermission.
- BC drove down the field after the second half kickoff and again Birkley had a chance, but it was blocked leading to another chance by Nugent that was saved by Long. After a Randolph-Macon counter, BC flipped the field with their own. Narby drove up the wing and found Hannah England and the freshman-to-freshman connection worked as England buried her shot to tie the game just five minutes into the second half.
- Birkley wasted no time as she had a pair of chances a minute later that were both saved by Long. The sophomore had another pair of looks and a save and a block spoiled what could've been the go ahead score. Narby had an opportunity of her own in the 57th minute and Long was there. On the corner that followed Birkley fired another shot on goal and again Long made a save. Birkley even had another chance in the 58th minute on a free kick and her attempt caught the post.
- After another chance from Birkley and one from England the ball finally crossed the goal line following a free kick. Keo found Daum and this time the chemistry between the two seniors found the back of the net to make it 2-1 BC with 24 minutes to play. The Eagles had a chance to extend the lead in the 70th minute as Long made a save on a shot from Keo and England scooped up the loose change but missed over the cross bar. R-MC changed their personnel after the shot from England and worked the ball down the field but a stop from Gaboury kept the visitors in front. Gaboury added a pair of saves in the final 15 minutes to put the Eagles back in the win column.
