BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's swim team was back in action after an almost two-month break, falling to conference foe Lynchburg, 75-109 on Friday evening.
Ean Helmlinger, Ryan Cunningham, Jonathan Taylor and Eric Wilbur set a new record in the 800 meter freestyle relay finishing with a 9:07.83 and finished third in the event behind two Hornet teams.
In the 400-meter relay, Cullen Beach, Luke Wintersgill, Ryan Cunningham and Travis McCauley teamed up for a second-place finish (4:15.17).
Individually, McCauley won the 50-meter freestyle (24.53), Helmlinger won the 400 meter freestyle and broke the previous record clocking in at 4:23.99 and finished second in the 200 meter butterfly (2:25.78). Cullen Beach won the 200-meter backstroke (2:22.37), Wintersgill finished second in the 200-meter IM (2:26.29), Wilbur placed second in the 100 meter IM (1:05.49).
The Eagles will be back in action tomorrow when they travel to Southern Virginia to face off against the Knights at 4 p.m.
