Box Score STAUNTON, Va. - The Bridgewater College men's soccer team lost to local Mary Baldwin University, 2-0, in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon.
The Eagles offense played the best soccer of their short season so far in the first half of the game, outshooting the Flying Squirrels 7-2. They took a 1-0 deficit into the half after Stephen Blair scored on a PK at the 12:05 mark.
Bridgewater continued to have chances in the second half, delivering nine more shots, but were unable to muster enough offense to score. The Eagles' best chance came early in the second half, when Luke Stubbs delivered a shot on net that was saved by the goalie. Simon Brun had a chance for the rebound put back but was unable to find the back of the net.
Mary Baldwin sealed the deal with a goal in the 77th minute.
BC held the advantage in corners 5-4, and shots 16-13. Charles Schweinefuss made five saves in net.
Bridgewater will look to get back into the win column when it play its home opener on Tuesday Sept. 14. vs. Southern Virginia.
