Men's Soccer Falls to No. 13 Lynchburg

LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Bridgewater College men's soccer team dropped their ODAC semifinal matchup against Lynchburg 3-0 Saturday night. 

The Basics 

Score: Bridgewater 0, Lynchburg 3 

Records: Bridgewater (12-5-2, 6-2-1 ODAC), Lynchburg (16-1-2, 8-1 ODAC) 

How It Happened 

  • The match remained scoreless for most of the first half. However, Lynchburg controlled possession and kept applying pressure to the Bridgewater defense. The first shot attempt of the match came from Lynchburg's Carlos Andres-Romero. It was on target, but Zane Kowalski made the save. 

  • Connor Campbell took the only shot attempt for the Eagles in the first half. The shot was off the mark. 

  • The Hornets scored their first goal of the match in the 37th minute. Sean DeLorenzo found the back of the net off a set piece for the only goal of the first half. 

  • Trey Widrick had the only shot attempt of the half for the Eagles in the 50th minute. He put the shot on target, but it was stopped by LYN keeper Thomas Viscuso. 

  • Matthew Viscuso scored in the 53rd minute to give the Hornets a 2-0 lead. 

  • Lynchburg's final goal came in the 73rd minute from Bruno Rihl-Silva. 

Match Notes 

  • BC was credited with two shot attempts in the match. This was their second-lowest mark on the season. 

  • This was the first night game lost this season for the Eagles. Coming into the match, BC was 5-0 in matches that started after 6 p.m.
