Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's soccer team dropped its conference play opener to Randolph in overtime, losing 3-4.
Bridgewater opened conference play on the road on Saturday evening. BC got down early, when in the fourth minute Randolph scored to take a 1-0.
Trevon Phillips got the Eagles on the board in the 16th minute. He scored on a scattered play in the box as Matthew Shelor assisted on the impressive left footed goal from Phillips.
Bridgewater would grab the lead with two minutes to play in the first half, when Josh Gilliam scored on a header to the left side of the night. Parker Richard assisted on the play after dropping a dime into the box that found Gilliam's head.
The Eagles were outshot 10-3 in the first half, and were down in corners 2-0, but still up on the scoresheet.
Brandon John of Randolph tied the game in the 63th minute, and just two minutes later, Simon Brun made it a 3-2 game to regain the lead when he scored on a free kick.
At the 85:40 mark, Randolph again tied the game, this time on a penalty kick after BC was on its heels trying to maintain the lead.
The game was decided just a minute into overtime when Parker Aaron won it for the Wildcats.
Bridgewater is now 3-4 (0-1 in conference) after losing for the first time in three games. They will return to action on Wednesday Sept. 29 at home when they host Shenandoah at 4:00 PM.
