Two Second-Half Goals By Keo Spark Eagles To 3-1 Win

Box Score

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Alicia Keo scored two goals in the final 16 minutes to snap a 1-1 tie Sunday afternoon as the Bridgewater College Eagles defeated Lynchburg, 3-1, in a battle of undefeated ODAC women's soccer teams.

The Eagles are now 4-0 overall and 3-0 in the ODAC. Sunday's victory was Bridgewater's first over Lynchburg on the Eagles' home pitch in program history.

Bridgewater struck early when Skyler Daum took a shot from the left side that hit the crossbar and dropped down just over the line to put the Eagles up 1-0 in the third minute.

The score remained 1-0 until the 34th minute when the Hornets pulled even. Amanda Wigboldy volleyed in a shot from 25 yards out to tie the score.

Bridgewater regained the lead in the 75th minute. Alicia Keo possessed the ball for the Eagles and dribbled toward the box. Keo split two defenders, juked a third and then fired a shot to the far post that eluded the Lynchburg keeper to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead.

Lynchburg had a golden opportunity to tie the score with just seven minutes left when they were awarded a free kick from straightaway, just outside the box. Taylor Smith's shot went over the wall and toward the back post, but Eagles' keeper Sydney Davis made a diving save and touched the ball wide of the goal to preserve the lead.

A minute later the Eagles were awarded a free kick from about 30 yards out and straightaway. Hanna Randolph's shot angled toward the back post where Lynchburg keeper Laura Mason made a diving stop. The ball bounced away from Mason, back into the box, and Keo cleaned up the rebound for a 3-1 Bridgewater cushion.

Lynchburg created another chance as the clock approached one minute to play. Madison Myers had a shot from inside the box, but Davis made another sprawling save, her fifth and final save of the day, to turn away the Hornets' final scoring chance.

Both teams finished with 12 total shots.

Bridgewater returns to action Thursday when the Eagles host Shenandoah in ODAC action.
