HARRISONBURG, Va. - Bridgewater improved to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the ODAC with a 2-0 women's soccer victory Sunday afternoon at Eastern Mennonite.
The Eagles took an early lead with a goal in the eighth minute. Lexi Winkler served a ball into the box that Eastern Mennonite failed to clear. Bridgewater freshman Alicia Keo pounced on the loose ball and deposited a shot into the back of the net for a 1-0 Eagles' lead.
The score remained 1-0 until the 82nd minute when a pair of first-year players teamed up for a score. Makayla Zanders scored off an assist from Skyler Daum, making the score 2-0.
The goals by Keo and Zanders were the first career points for each player.
Bridgewater's defense did not allow a shot by the Royals in Sunday's contest. The shuout was the second of the season for the Eagles and goalkeeper Sydney Davis. Bridgewater finished the contest with 28 shots plus a 10-1 edge in corner kicks.
Bridgewater returns to action next Sunday when the Eagles host Lynchburg in a key ODAC contest. Game time is 2:00 p.m.
