BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Eastern Mennonite's Troy Davis put a shot from deep just under the crossbar in the second minute of overtime Wednesday to lift the Royals to a 2-1 victory over Bridgewater. The contest was played as a non-conference game and will not count in the ODAC standings.

Both EMU goals came following intermission, both came from deep and both were scored by Davis.

The Eagles took the early lead when Leo Alcantara slotted a pass ahead to freshman Alex Martinez. Martinez spun away from a defender and hit the shot with his left foot, putting it over the oncoming keeper for a 1-0 Bridgewater lead.

Bridgewater carried the lead to the halftime break behind a stellar defensive effort that kept the Royals from taking a shot in the first half.

The Royals, however, evened the score early in the second half, taking advantage of a set piece. Bridgewater was called for a fall outside the box, setting up a free kick for the Royals. Davis took the kick and put his shot over the wall and just inside the far post from 25 yards out to tie the score at 1-1.

Davis hit the game winner in the second minute of OT when he stroked a shot from 35 yards out and put it just under the crossbar to lift the Royals to the win.

Bridgewater held a 12-5 edge in shots and a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks. EMU keeper Ahmed Zaatar recorded six saves while Eagles' keeper Colin Rouaud finished with one save.

The Eagles return to action next Wednesday when they host Lynchburg in a non-conference match.
