Box Score DALLAS, Pa. - Gwynedd-Mercy scored twice early in the fourth quarter to defeat the Bridgewater College field hockey team 3-1 on Saturday.
Senior Jacqueline DiFulvio gave the Eagles the lead eight minutes into the second half, off a shot from a penalty corner play by junior Karinne Moyer.
The Griffins went down and earned a corner at the other end however, with Michaela Swenk knocking it in to tie the contest at 1-1.
Gwynedd-Mercy then went ahead with two goals exactly 1.5 minutes apart in the fourth. Allison Campbell's tally was followed by a penalty corner that resulted in Swenk's second goal of the day for a 3-1 scoreline.
The Eagles would earn one more corner with six minutes to go, but could not record a shot the rest of the way.
Emily Witzke finished with three saves in the cage for Bridgewater. Claire Ashley made a defensive save in the second quarter to help keep the game scoreless heading into halftime.
The Eagles are 0-2 after facing two teams who qualified for the NCAA tournament within the past two seasons. Bridgewater will play next at St. Mary's on Wednesday.
