Tigers Score In Second Half To Stop Bridgewater

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Hampden-Sydney scored both of its goals in the second half Saturday afternoon to defeat the Bridgewater College Eagles 2-0 in ODAC action.

The first half ended in scoreless tie with the Tigers holding a 9-4 edge in shots, including a 5-1 margin in shots on goal. 

The game was still scoreless in the 64th minute when the Tigers broke the tie. Cole Burton send a pass back to Boyce Purdie who has space from 30 yards out. Purdie hit his shot to the upper far post and into the back of the net for a 1-0 Hampden-Sydney lead.

The Tigers scored their second goal in the final minute when Spell Carr scored off an assist from Jacob Mann.

The Tigers finished with a 15-8 edge in total shots. Bridgewater keeper Mark Collins, making his second straight start in goal, finished the contest with nine saves.

Bridgewater, now 2-8-1 overall and 0-2 in the ODAC is back in action next Saturday when the Eagles travel to Guilford.
