Men's Swimming Sets Five School Records at Hampden-Sydney

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's swimming team set five school records, including in the first three events, in a double-dual at Hampden-Sydney.

Dylan Shannon, Sean Cunningham, Benjamin Dillon and Ryan Cunningham opened the meet with a new program meter-length record in the 400 medley relay (4:42.78).

Ben Williams then lowered his own mark in the 1500 free, placing second with a time of 22:33.89. R. Cunningham followed that by winning the 200 freestyle in a school record 2:10.25.

Bridgewater would set two more program marks, with S. Cunningham in the 200 breast (2:53.08) and Dillon in the 400 free (5:13.39).

S. Cunningham took first place in the 100 breast (1:19.29), and his brother Ryan did the same in the 100 fly (1:04.02).

Despite the impressive individual performances, Bridgewater was swept in the team scores, losing 151-71 to the hosts and 121-92 to Southern Virginia.

Bridgewater (0-4, 0-2 ODAC) will host the first of three straight home meets on November 2 when the Eagles welcome Gallaudet to Nininger Pool.
