LEXINGTON, Va. - Facing Washington & Lee in the postseason for the third time in four years, the Bridgewater College field hockey team fell 4-0 in the ODAC quarterfinals.

Seniors Laura Gretz and Tessa Tierson concluded their Eagle careers on the field where they had helped deliver the program's first ODAC title back in 2015.

W&L broke off a restart four-and-a-minutes in and slid a shot under Bishop that was cleared off the line by Claire Ashley.

The Generals hit the post on the game's first penalty corner, in the 10th minute of action. Haley Tucker then went on a long run around the right end of the defense, but was saved by Bishop.

Bishop made two good saves on a penalty corner with under 10 minutes left in the first half. Another corner was whistled however, and Annaliese Thole touched in a pass from Tucker from the left side.

The Generals took a 2-0 lead into halftime on a fortuitous bounce. Lauren Paolano's redirect hit off the post and fell right back to the W&L forward to finish it off.

The hosts won a corner three minutes into the second half and Bishop made two more kick saves on the play. The next time down the field, Tucker cut through the middle of the defense and scored to Bishop's left to make it 3-0.

Tucker would add another with 18 minutes remaining to push the gap to 4-0.

Bridgewater wraps up its 2018 campaign with a record of 8-9. W&L advances to face Shenandoah on Friday in the semifinals, which will be played on the campus of top-seeded Lynchburg College.
