Field Hockey Falls at First Place Lynchburg

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Three second half goals led first place Lynchburg past the Bridgewater College field hockey team, 4-0 on Saturday.

Junior goalie Ali Bishop made 13 saves and the Eagles held Lynchburg off until just before halftime. Maggie Chiappazzi scored 97 seconds before the break to give the hosts the lead.

Freshman Danni Eddo had a shot saved 12:20 into the contest that could have given Bridgewater the lead.

Nikki Simpao scored in the fourth minute of action of the second half to double the Hornets' advantage.

Simpao then assisted Jackie Lerro, and Kayla Copeman capped the scoring for Lynchburg.

Tessa Tierson put two shots on goal in the second half, but both were saved by Lynchburg goalie Laurel Nicks.

Bridgewater falls to 8-7, 4-3 ODAC and will conclude the regular season at home on Thursday vs. Roanoke.
