Five Different Eagles Tally in Second Half of 7-0 Win

Box Score

Five different players scored in the second half as the Bridgewater College field hockey team beat Ferrum 7-0 on Wednesday evening.

Tessa Tierson had a hat trick and an assist to lead the Eagles, with Elizabeth Washington adding a goal and an assist.

Washington scored the game's third goal early in the second half, blasting a slap shot from the top of the area that froze the Ferrum defenders and goalkeeper.

With 12:40 remaining, Karinne Moyer played a pass all the way across the field and Tierson took it around one defender before finishing off her hat trick.

Jacqueline DiFulvio then scored off an assist from Grace Stang, and senior Elizabeth Parker scored her first collegiate goal- tapping it in after Tierson dribbled through several defenders.

The final goal came from freshman Meghan Obaugh- also her first collegiate tally- off a long pass from Georgia Howard.

Tierson had scored both Eagles first half goals as Bridgewater took a 2-0 lead into the break.

The BC junior snuck a shot through a defender from a tight angle near the right endline 10 minutes in. Right after that goal, she played a good pass in to DiFulvio but the chance was saved.

After a Tierson shot was saved midway through the first half, Washington slid the rebound back over to Tierson in the middle of the area. She ripped the shot home for a 2-0 scoreline.

In between, Obaugh had her attempt to jam a shot in denied by Ferrum goalie Courtney Gosslin. The ball may have been covered up, but only led to a penalty corner that was then cleared.

BC goalie Emily Witzke prevented the Panthers from stealing one back late in the first as Brianna Sawyer snuck free. Witzke came flying off her line to make a sliding block. Witzke stopped another breakaway chance in the second half after a great crossfield pass from Tatianna Roberts up to Destanee Cutler.

Bridgewater improves to 3-7 and faces an important ODAC road matchup at Randolph-Macon on Saturday.
