Box Score - Sophomore midfielder Thomas White scored one goal and assisted on another Saturday evening to pace Bridgewater College to a key 2-0 victory over Guilford College in ODAC men's soccer action.
Bridgewater took the lead with a goal late in the first half when White headed the ball past the keeper off a long free kick by Andrew Noll to put the Eagles on the scoreboard at the 39:30 mark.
The Eagles nursed the one-goal advantage until the 74th minute. White crossed the ball into the box and Mark Almeida's shot deflected off a Guilford defender and into the goal for an important insurance goal, making the score 2-0.
Guilford held a 15-8 advantage in shots while the Eagles held a slim 6-5 edge in corner kicks.
Bridgewater goalkeeper Quentin Boric had another big game for the Eagles as he finished with seven saves to record his third shutout of the season.
With the victory, the Eagles evened their overall record at 7-7 while improving to 4-2 in ODAC play. Bridgewater moved into a tie for fourth place in the conference with Washington and Lee.
The Eagles are back in action Wednesday when they host rival Eastern Mennonite in another key conference matchup. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
