Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va. - Lynchburg College scored two goals midway through the first half Saturday evening and that proved to be enough as the Hornets blanked Bridgewater College 2-0 in ODAC men's soccer action.
The Hornets, ranked No. 14 in the current NSCAA Top 25 poll, got on the board in the 22nd minute when Zach Thomas scored off a pass from Ben Grossfuss for a 1-0 Lynchburg lead.
Ten minutes later, Austin Kues found the back of the net to put the Hornets on top 2-0.
Much of the second-half action was contained in the midfield as the Hornets held a slim 5-4 edge in shots.
The Eagles threatened early in the second half, but a shot from Leo Alcantara hit the crossbar.
The overall shot differential was minimal with the Hornets holding a 13-10 edge. Lynchburg also held a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Eagles keeper Mark Davis and Lynchburg goalkeeper Dylan McLaurin each finished the contest with two saves.
The Eagles, now 7-5-2 overall and 2-3 in the ODAC, return to action Tuesday when they host Shenandoah in a key ODAC encounter. Game time is 4:00 p.m.
