Box Score BUENA VISTA, Va. - Bridgewater College picked up its second win of the season Wednesday evening as the Eagles rolled to a 3-0 non-conference victory over Southern Virginia.
The Eagles scored early when Renato Grgic headed in a shot off a corner kick by Logan McGlynn to put Bridgewater on the board at the 11:30 mark. The goal was the first for Grgic in an Eagles uniform.
Bridgewater, now 2-3-1 on the season, held a 1-0 lead at the half and increased the margin with a goal in the 50th minute on another corner kick opportunity. Connor Henderson got a head on the corner from McGlynn, but his shot hit the post. Henderson, however, cleaned up the rebound, heading the ball into the net off of the goal line to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead.
The Eagles closed out the scoring in the 69th minute when freshman Noah Malpass scored his first career goal. Malpass dribbled past the Knights' keeper and punched the ball into the open net for the final 3-0 margin of victory.
Bridgewater finished the contest with a 17-9 advantage in shots while Southern Virginia held a slim 7-5 edge in cormer kicks. Henderson led the Eagles attack, putting two of his three shot attempts on goal.
Eagles keeper Mark Davis finished with two saves to record the shutout.
Bridgewater returns to action Saturday when the Eagles travel to Lynchburg, Va., to play Randolph College in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference matchup. Game time is 5:00 p.m.
