Box Score ASHLAND, Va. - Bridgewater College closed out the regular season Saturday afternoon by shutting out Randolph-Macon, 2-0, in ODAC men's soccer action.
With the victory, the Eagles earn the No. 6 seed for the upcoming conference tournament with a 5-6 ODAC record, Bridgewater is now 8-8-1 overall. The Eagles, who lost their first five conference games, closed out the regular season by winning five of their final six games. The Yellow Jackets also finished the conference slate with a 5-6 record, but the Eagles receive the No. 6 seed due to their head-to-head victory over Macon.
The Eagles will be on the road Tuesday for a quarterfinal contest as they will travel to play the Roanoke Maroons. Roanoke hosted Bridgewater during the regular season and defeated the Eagles 1-0.
Bridgewater took the lead in Saturday's game with a goal in the 23rd minute. Following a foul call against the Yellow Jackets, the Eagles were awarded a free kick. Logan McGlynn took the kick and Kevin Gidari headed in the shot to put the Eagles on top, 1-0.
The score remained 1-0 until the Eagles added an insurance goal at the 73:14 mark. Adam Weisenborn netted his third goal of the season off an assist from Jonathan Min for a 2-0 Bridgewater lead.
Randolph-Macon held a 24-9 edge it total shots, but shots on goal were much closer with the Jackets holding just a 4-3 edge. The hosts also held a 4-1 edge in corner kicks over the Eagles.
Bridgewater keeper Mark Davis earned his sixth shutout of the season as he finished the contest with four saves.
