HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. - Hampden-Sydney College made the most of its opportunities Friday evening and defeated Bridgewater College, 4-2, in Old Dominion Athletic Conference men's soccer action.

The Tigers struck in the opening two minutes when Robert Kerby took a through ball from Liam Hogan and beat Eagles goalkeeper Kevin Morris with the shot for a quick 1-0 lead.

Hampden-Sydney tallied again in the final minute of the first half when Hogan scored off Leo Kowalski's corner kick, making the score 2-0.

The Eagles got right back in the thick of things when Alex Farrington scored an unassisted goal with just three ticks left on the first half clock, cutting the Tigers' lead to 2-1 at the break.

The Kerby-Hogan tandem struck again in the 67th minute when Kerby took a pass down the left side from Hogan to score his second goal of the night, giving the Tigers a 3-1 lead.

Once again, the Eagles responded and once again it was Farrington scoring an unassisted goal, this time in the 71st minute to make it a one score game, 3-2.

The score remained 3-2 during the next 16 minutes as the Tigers were able to muster just one shot while the Eagles were unable to penetrate the Sydney defense.

The hosts put the game away at the 88:22 mark when Ryan Turner scored off an assist from Costin Gregory for the final 4-2 margin of victory.

The Tigers held a 12-7 edge in shots and a slim 4-3 margin in corner kicks. In addition to Farrington's two goals, the Eagles managed just one more shot on frame, that from midfielder Adrian Zamora.

Morris finished with three saves for the Eagles while Tigers' keeper Cameron McFarlane tallied one save.
