Box Score GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The Gettysburg College Bullets defeated Bridgewater College 2-0 Saturday afternoon in non-conference men's soccer action.
The Eagles had the better of play early with a 4-1 advantage in shots in the opening 15 minutes but could not take advantage of their opportunities.
Gettysburg broke the scoreless tie in the 28th minute. Goalie Connor Darrell set the stage with a long-goal kick into Bridgewater's side of the field. Tyler Shaffer controlled the ball just outside the 18-yard line and touched it back to sophomore Kyle Franks. Franks passed the ball out the left side to James Rice, who booted the shot into the right corner for the goal.
The scored remained 1-0 until the 76th minute when Devin Geiman took a pass from Andrew LaFontaine and scored from 23 yards out, giving the Bullets a 2-0 lead.
The Eagles held a slim 19-16 edge in shots. Bridgewater goalie TJ Martin finished the contest with five saves.
The Eagles (0-1) play their home opener Wednesday when they host Southern Virginia at 4 p.m.
