Box Score HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. – Curran Blackwell scored less than two minutes into the first half Saturday afternoon to give Hampden-Sydney an early lead and the Tigers went on to defeat Bridgewater College, 3-0, in ODAC action.
Blackwell headed in an indirect kick from Bryan Talbert for the quick 1-0 Hampden-Sydney lead.
The score stayed that way until the 61st minute when Leo Kowalski found the back of the net off an assist from Nick DeProspero, giving the Tigers a 2-0 lead.
Hampden-Sydney scored its final goal in the 68th minute on a shot by Robert Stephens with Blackwell recording the assist.
Hampden-Sydney held an 18-11 edge in shots while the Eagles held a slim 6-3 margin in corner kicks.
Blake Carrey finished with three saves to register the shutout for the Tigers.
For the Eagles, Kevin Gorman had two of Bridgewater's three shots on goal.
The Eagles have now lost two straight in conference play and are 5-3 in the ODAC and 9-5 overall. Hampden-Sydney is 5-9 overall and 4-4 in the conference.
Bridgewater returns to action Wednesday afternoon when the Eagles host Roanoke College at 4:00 p.m.
