Box Score HARRISONBURG, Va. - Bridgewater College won its fifth straight game Wednesday night as the Eagles blanked Eastern Mennonite, 2-0, in ODAC action.
The Eagles made the best of a wet, cold night on the pitch and improved to 11-3 overall and 6-2 in the conference.
The contest was scoreless for most of the first half, but Brittney Harris (Laurel, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt) sent the Eagles to the break with the lead when she lofted a shot over the EMU keeper to put the Eagles on the board in the final two minutes of the opening half.
Bridgewater padded its lead 10 minutes into the second half, scoring on a breakaway when Mari Marotta (Clifton, Va./Centreville) passed to Sarah Conner (Eldersburg, Md./Century) for the goal and a 2-0 lead.
The Eagles were in command the entire way as they held a 20-2 edge in shots and a 7-0 margin in corner kicks.
Mackenzie Gates (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) recorded the shuout in goal. She had zero saves while facing just two EMU shot attempts.
The Eagles return to action Saturday afternoon when they host Guilford. Game time is 4:00 p.m.
