Box Score BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Randolph-Macon College
scored two goals in the final 20 minutes Tuesday afternoon to
defeat Bridgewater College, 31, in ODAC men's soccer action.
The Yellow Jackets got on the board first when John Baskerville
scored at the 32:35 mark for a 1-0 R-MC lead.
Trailing 1-0 at the break, the Eagles stayed within striking
distance and tied the score when Patrick
Thornton (Bowie, Md./Bowie) found the net from 30 yards out at
the 60:55 mark.
Bridgewater had a chance to take the lead less than a minute
later, but a Kevin Gorman
(Annapolis Md./Mount Saint Joseph) shot from close range was turned
away by Randolph-Macon goalkeeper Phillip Marcelo to keep the score
tied.
The visitors regained the lead at the 71:32 mark when Mike
Urbanik scored off an assist from Tyler Cornelio. Randolph-Macon
added the final goal with less than two minutes to play when David
Sullivan scored with the assist awarded to Dustin Baellow.
Randolph-Macon held a 14-11 edge in shots while the Eagles held
an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Marcelo finished the contest with five saves while Bridgewater
goalkeeper Travis Morris
(Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) turned away six shots.
Randolph-Macon is now 4-4-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the ODAC. The
Eagles fall to 2-6-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the conference.
