Field Hockey Falls 1-0 at Shenandoah

Box Score

WINCHESTER, Va. – In out of conference action on the road, the Bridgewater Eagles (4-2) field hockey team outshot the host Shenandoah Hornets (3-0) but couldn't find the back of the cage as the Eagles fell by a 1-0 score to the Hornets.

Shenandoah senior Paola Aguilar tallied the game's lone goal just 85 seconds into the contest to put the Hornets ahead 1-0.

Bridgewater peppered Shenandoah goalie Sarah Clare with seven shots on goal, but Clare was up to the task turning away every Eagles opportunity.

A quartet of Eagles led the offense with two shots apiece. Sophomore Joan Burleson (Newport News, Va./Menchville) and senior Leah Cossentino (Marriottsville, Md./Glenelg) led the Bridgewater attack with two shots on goal each.

Bridgewater outshot Shenandoah by an 11-to-8 tally.

In the cage, junior Taylor Waddell (Reedsville, Pa./Indian Valley) picked up the loss. Waddell allowed the lone goal before turning in 68 minutes of shutout action. The Reedsville, Pa. native stoned five Hornets scoring attempts in the loss.

Bridgewater is back in action on Sunday, September 19 when the Eagles host St. Mary's (Md.). Action from Mapp Field starts at 1:00 p.m.
