Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va.- Junior goalie Taylor Waddell
turned in a career-high 23 saves, but the Bridgewater Eagles field
hockey team fell to No. 11 Lynchburg by a 4-1 score at
Shellenberger Field in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action.
Lynchburg tallied two goals in each
half as the Eagles held the Hornets, which were averaging seven
goals per game in conference action, to their lowest-scoring output
against an ODAC foe on the season.
Junior Rachael
Keshishian (Forest Hill, Md./Baltimore Lutheran) tallied
Bridgewater's lone goal in extra time off of a corner insert to
finalize the scoring at a 4-1 tally.
The three goal difference is the
smallest scoring differential for an ODAC opponent against the
Hornets all season.
Offensively, freshman Jennifer
Tompkins (Mount Airy, Md./South Carroll) tallied four of
Bridgewater's six shots in the loss.
Waddell (Reedsville, Pa./Indian
Valley) faced 40 shots in the game, turning away 23 Lynchburg
shots on goal in the process.
Bridgewater is back in action on
Sunday in its road finale at No. 8 Christopher Newport. Action
against the Captains is slated for a 2:00 p.m. start.
