BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Bridgewater College
women's soccer team finished the BC Invitational with a 2-0 record
as the Eagles defeated Ferrum College, 2-0, Sunday at Jopson Field.
The Eagles are now 2-0-1 on the season, marking the best start
in the program's history. Sunday's victory also marked the first
time the Eagles have finished with the best record in the BC
Invitational.
Bridgewater took the lead when Kelly Purcell scored on a header
off of Kathy Bundrick's corner kick, giving the Eagles a 1-0 lead
midway through the opening half.
The Eagles added to their lead early in the second half on a
goal by Abby Dehoff making the score 2-1.
Bridgewater goalkeeper Shauna Manovich had an easy day in goal
as the BC defense held the Panthers without a shot during the
contest.
The shutout is the third in three contests this season for the
Eagles.
EAGLES NOTES: Sophomore Meghan Groos
tallied an assist in Saturday's victory over Greensboro, moving her
into fifth place on the College's all-time assist list.
