BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Five different players found the back of the net as the Bridgewater Eagles (6-3, 1-2 ODAC) field hockey team picked up its first ODAC win of the season, defeating visiting Sweet Briar (1-7, 0-2 ODAC) by a 5-0 score at Mapp Field.

BC scored early and often, with freshman Joan Burleson kick-starting the scoring with her second goal of the year at the 12:12 mark to put BC ahead 1-0.

Less than four minutes later, sophomore Allison Carr found the back of the net off a pass from Brianna Jacques to give Bridgewater a 2-0 lead, which is where the game would stay until the intermission. Carr's goal was the first of her career.

Bridgewater would strike early in the second half, when Leah Cossentino netted the third goal of the game at the 48:03 mark to give the Eagles a 3-0 advantage.

Senior Christina Pybus added to BC's lead at the 56:51 mark when she netted her team-leading ninth goal of the season to put the Eagles up 4-0.

Midfielder Jennifer Bateman rounded out the scoring on the day when she netted her second goal of the year at the 64:55 mark, pushing the BC advantage to 5-0.

Bridgewater's 5-0 victory was its third-highest goal output of the season.

In the cage, sophomore Taylor Waddell (3-2) picked up the victory, turning away three Vixen shots, to earn her first shutout of the season.

Sweet Briar keeper Madeline Wilson picked up the loss, allowing all five BC goals, while recording 13 saves.

Bridgewater outshot Sweet Briar by a 24-4 margin.

BC is back in action on Thursday when the Eagles travel to Randolph-Macon for an ODAC showdown with the Yellow Jackets. Game time is slated for a 4:30 p.m. start. Bridgewater split with Randolph-Macon last year, losing at home in the regular season before defeating the Yellow Jackets in the ODAC tournament first round game at Randolph-Macon.
