Box Score ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - Bridgewater continued its hot start to the
2009 season with a convincing 6-0 victory Friday over the N.C.
Wesleyan Bishops.
With the victory, the Eagles continued the best start in program
history as they improved to 4-0-1 on the season.
The shutout was the fifth straight this season as the Eagles
still have not allowed a goal. The Eagles controlled play
from the beginning and rolled to a 5-0 lead in the first half of
play.
The Eagles scored just 32 seconds into the game when Megan Ryan
found the net off an assist from Caroline Banks. Megan Groos took
an assist from Jacey Kelley at the 24:26 mark for BC's second goal
and Krista Ready scored off an assist from Sophie Dearing, making
the score 3-0. Ashley Andes took a pass from Sarah Taylor to tally
the Eagles' fourth goal and Ready scored again in the final minute
of the half off an assist from Kelley, making the score 5-0 at the
break.
Bridgewater scored its final goal with less than two minutes to
play when Courtney Dearing scored off of Courtney Vaught's assist.
The Eagles held an 18-9 edge in shots and a 6-4 edge in corner
kicks.
Shauna Manovich recorded the shutout as she registered four
saves during the match.
Bridgewater is back in action Saturday at 5:00 p.m. when the
Eagles play Meredith College.
